This event has passed.
The start time is 3 pm.
The mission statement is “to enjoy sailing and socialising”. Hopefully there are keel boat and
trailer sailer owners who would love the opportunity to have an informal sail with like minded
skippers, friends and family, but may have reservations about participating in club racing.
The basic principles are as follows:
1/ Participating boats are to be seaworthy, specified to Cat 6 standard, comply with
all safety regulations and have at least third party liability insurance.
2/ Safety is of paramount importance. All skippers are to log on and off by text
message to the event coordinator Gavin Sorrell 0429036610. A continuous watch is
to be kept by all vessels on channel 77 vhf and all vessels to keep a lookout for each
other. The skipper is ultimately responsible for the safety and well-being of the vessel
and crew as well as any damage to other vessels and pubic or private property.
3/. A course will be set electronically with two or more waypoints sent to each
skipper when logging on. The waypoints may coincide with actual markers. When
logging off, the skipper will enter the elapsed time and distance covered, by text
message to the event coordinator. It is to be made clear that this is not a race and
there is no formal club structure, thereby permitting boats with limited insurance to
participate. There is no obligation to complete the course.
4/. The results are to be recorded and interpreted by the event coordinator as he
sees fit.
5/. A prize of a bottle of wine has been kindly offered as a prize by The Deck. Post
sailing socialising is at The Deck and all participants are expected no later than 5pm
for happy hour. There will be the usual menu options. Up to six berths are available
for overnight visitors.
If you are interested in social sailing and would like to participate in the first event on
Thursday 8th October at 3pm, please register with Gavin Sorrell by email:
gavosorrell@yahoo.com.au . Depending on weather conditions, the course coordinates will
be released on Wednesday, 7th October.
Hope to see you on the water this season.
